Following the release of the option to rename linked devices to business accounts, WhatsApp is now rolling out a new feature that will assist users figure out why they missed calls: support for detecting when the do not disturb mode is turned on on WhatsApp beta for iOS!

WhatsApp now supports another iOS 15 API, the ability to identify whether the do not disturb mode is enabled, according to the most recent releases of WhatsApp beta for iOS available on TestFlight. Let’s have a look at how WhatsApp makes use of this data:

When you receive a WhatsApp call and your notifications are turned off due to the do not disturb mode being on, as shown in this screenshot, a new label will appear inside the call history: it will indicate that you missed the call because it was hushed by the do not disturb mode. This information is not shared with WhatsApp or the person who is contacting you, and it is only saved in the app’s local database. Furthermore, because this is an iOS 15 API, you must use WhatsApp on at least iOS 15 to use it.

This week, WhatsApp will support the new API, and a new update will be posted on the App Store that will make the capability available to everyone.
