Following the discovery of some new status update capabilities, we can now reveal that another is currently in development: a reply indication for status updates, which will be included in a future release of WhatsApp beta for Android, iOS, and Desktop!
WhatsApp has been concentrating on improving status updates for the past few weeks. WhatsApp is working on a status reply indicator after it was discovered that the firm is working on improving link previews and a tool to show status updates from within the chats list.
When the most recent message in the chat is a reply to a status update, WhatsApp will display a different icon, as shown in this example. This is a little change, but it will come in handy when you get a speedy response to your status changes in a future version of WhatsApp, so you can figure out what the recipient is talking about right away.
Even though the screenshot was obtained from the WhatsApp Desktop beta, WhatsApp is aiming to bring the same feature to the WhatsApp beta for Android and iOS: further information may be forthcoming in the coming days.
This feature is still in development, as it always is. You might be asking why a tiny feature like this isn’t provided right away: development plans might change quickly, thus WhatsApp could drop the feature at any time. The functionality will be given to the public after the firm is confident that it will be useful for the app.
