LG has revealed that TikTok has launched an app for its 2020 and 2021 smart TVs. With a firmware upgrade that began going out on October 7th, the app came on these current webOS 5.0 and webOS 6.0 models, but it will also be arriving to older 2019 TVs “in the coming months.”

According to a TikTok spokesman, the app will launch in the United Kingdom, France, and Germany. This is significant because TikTok’s smart TV apps for Samsung TVs, Android TV, and Fire TV have all previously concentrated on the same European countries.

Last year, TikTok developed a more limited “More on TikTok” app for Fire TV devices in the United States. We contacted LG and TikTok to inquire about which regions the new smart TV app will be accessible in.

TikTok isn’t going to look well on living room televisions because it’s optimized for portrait-orientated mobile viewing. However, Protocol recently reported that TikTok is attempting to reach a bigger audience with its smart TV apps, as well as capitalize on the increased advertising rates associated with TV viewership.
