We can now announce that WhatsApp is now rolling out the ability to rename linked devices to business accounts that use the latest versions of WhatsApp beta for Android and iOS! Following up on our previous post where we announced the ability to set up cover photos to enhance a business profile, which is planned to be released in a future update on Desktop beta, we can now announce that WhatsApp is now rolling out the ability to rename linked devices to business accounts that use the latest versions of WhatsApp beta for Android and iOS!
We wrote a story a few weeks ago about WhatsApp Premium, an optional subscription package that gives corporate users access to additional capabilities. Businesses will be able to link and name up to 10 devices to the same WhatsApp account, as well as create a customized bespoke business link, thanks to WhatsApp Premium.
However, there is a correction: since it was rolled out to certain organizations today, it appears that the option to rename a paired device is a free function (and hence not included in the subscription plan).

We can now rename associated devices, as shown in the following screenshot: This can be done right after connecting a new device to our WhatsApp account, or later by going to WhatsApp Settings > Linked Devices > Device > Name.
Another business function that helps businesses recognize who the device belongs to is the ability to provide a custom name to our associated devices, which is not available to normal WhatsApp accounts. You should also be aware of the following:
Your consumers will not be able to view a custom name you choose for a paired device because it is private.
Despite the fact that the screenshot was obtained from the WhatsApp Business beta for Android, the same capability has been made available to some businesses on the WhatsApp Business beta for iOS.
WhatsApp is also releasing a new UI for Linked Devices for iOS and Android, which is only available for corporate accounts.
This feature is now being rolled out to WhatsApp beta users. To obtain the functionality, make sure to upgrade WhatsApp to the most recent beta build available, and if it isn’t available for your account, please wait for future updates as it will be rolled out to more people in the coming weeks.
