Twitter stated on Saturday that it would begin rolling out its updated Blue membership on December 12th, following an initial attempt at paid account verification that was unsuccessful. Early in November, Twitter initially offered Blue verification for iOS devices for $8 a month, but the deployment was halted when the platform was inundated with confirmed trolls.
The company also announced on Saturday that direct subscriptions through its iOS app will cost $11 per month for the service. The monthly subscription fee for the web will be $8.
The business also claims to have taken fresh steps to avoid a repeat of what transpired last month. After signing up for the service, individuals who want to display a blue checkmark on their profile must first register using a phone number.
After achieving verified status, Twitter says users can alter their handle, display name, and profile photo. However, the company will temporarily remove their blue checkmark while it reevaluates their account.
