Pokémon GO is Niantic’s most popular game and with its success comes its creators trying to spread their wings. Niantic is making moves to expand its game portfolio. They announced a partnership with Capcom to launch a game in the Monster Hunter franchise. The game is coming this year and it will be mobile.
The game will be called Monster Hunter Now and it will launch in September across various mobile platforms. Players will have to hunt monsters in the real-world environments
For now, you can sign up to be a part of the closed beta tester on their website. Also, follow the game’s socials to catch any updates. The beta players’ invitation goes out to about 10,000 people and starts on April 25th.
There were very few details shared on the gameplay. All is to be known in due time. For Niantic games, you can expect to hunt different monsters in multiple locations, have some earnings, forge some cool weapons, and progress in the game. “Taking the role of a hunter, players will venture forth and team up with fellow players in order to take down the fiercest monsters in the world, adding a social element to the thrilling experience,” Niantic said in a press release.
The game can be played in both portrait and landscape modes and has a limit of 75 secs for every monster battle.
Niantic has delved into other non-Pokémon games like NBA All World, Pikmin Bloom, and Harry Potter: Wizards Unite. The latter ended in 2021. Last year, the company cut 8% of its staff and canceled four projects, including a Transformers game.
