Google is working on its own version of Apple’s “Find My Network” allowing lost or stolen Android smartphones to be tracked by pinging other devices similar to what Apple uses on their devices and also by using Bluetooth.
“Find My Network” is a popular feature introduce by Apple on their devices which allow users to track lost or stolen devices.
With the improvement on iOS 15 Apple said users can use “Find My” to tracked their lost device whether it has been turned off or factory reset.
According to Google “Find My Network” which allow Android user to locate your device and other people’s devices when is stolen.
Currently Google allow Android users to locate their lost or missing smartphone by using “Find My Device app” but has limited functionality.
Android users can only locate their lost smartphone using “Find My device app” only when users have login into google account and has their GPS and Internet turned on before users can locate their smartphone.
If these features are turned off users cannot locate their smartphone and doesn’t use passing-by devices to locate them.
Google said “Find My Device Network” feature will work the same way as Apple’s “Find My Network” which use passing-by devices to report back pings from the lost devices to the owner.
However Google’s “Find My Network” version will also rely on Bluetooth instead, which may hit the accuracy of the service.
