After years of being the go-to voice assistant for Android users, Google is officially saying goodbye to Google Assistant. The tech giant has announced plans to upgrade more users to its new AI-powered assistant, Gemini, over the coming months. If you’ve grown used to the classic Google Assistant, you’ll want to take note—this change means the familiar assistant will no longer be accessible on most mobile devices by the end of this year.

As part of the transition, Google will also remove the classic Assistant from app stores, meaning it won’t be available for new downloads. However, fear not—users with phones running Android 9 or earlier, and those with at least 2GB of RAM, can still enjoy the classic Assistant for the time being.

Gemini is poised to offer a more advanced and personalized experience, integrating the latest in AI to make your smartphone smarter than ever. While Google Assistant has served us well, it’s time for the next generation to take the reins.

Ready for the upgrade? Looks like Google’s taking assistant to a whole new level.
