This does not limit your interactions with muted communities. You can interact still with posts, comments, upvotes, and downvotes. There is also a limit of 1000 muted communities at a time. Unmute is still an option if there is a change of mind.

It adds an extra filter for things you are likely to see on the app. You can mute communities through settings and also through the three dots on the popular and home feeds.
