On the latest upgrades on the app’s circuit, Reddit comes through. Reddit adds a new feature to its platform. It allows you to mute communities. This comes as a mobile-only experience for now but there are plans by the company to introduce it in the desktop version in the upcoming months.
“Community Muting” gives you the option of community threads on the app. You will not receive notifications from the muted communities. It will not show up in your Home and Popular feeds either. This does not limit your interactions with muted communities. You can interact still with posts, comments, upvotes, and downvotes. There is also a limit of 1000 muted communities at a time. Unmute is still an option if there is a change of mind.
The feature adds a layer of control to the app experience. It is to give users a level of control over the content they will and can interact with. It adds an extra filter for things you are likely to see on the app. You can mute communities through settings and also through the three dots on the popular and home feeds. This feature is a response to users’ requests. This is an active win for users on various platforms as they seem to be getting some of their biggest asks. The Twitter edit button is an example of this. Hope users get more features they want on these social platforms.
