Twitter is currently working on a new feature for its user to have full control of their mentions. The news was broken by a company engineer. This new feature is intended to curb the bullying and harassment that has ridden the platform.
The “Mention” gives tags access back to the users. It gives the users to prevent mentions as a whole. This is very dramatic from how the platform operates now. Not to worry, the option for choosing how the mentions currently is available. It also gives users more control over their mentions. It offers the mentions to only followers. In addition, you are safe from mentions from users that you have blocked.
This seems as next step to the “Unmentioning” feature which dropped earlier this year. it affords the users the choice to remove tags from tweets they aren’t comfortable referencing. It keeps you out of the ongoing tweet. This also keeps the tweet and maybe its thread from your feed. The new feature works as a step further on this feature. It put steps ahead of such convo as it takes you out of the option to be involved in the first place.
