On Thursday, WhatsApp announced the addition of emoji reactions to its messaging app, allowing you to convey your sentiments about a message without having to send an individual emoji. Although the business introduced reactions alongside its new communities feature, Meta spokesperson Joshua Breckman that when is ready “soon,” reactions will be available on all chats.
To begin, the feature will be limited, allowing you to respond with only six emojis (though, in my opinion, WhatsApp has picked most of the important ones). WhatsApp’s CEO, Will Cathcart, has stated that the app will support “all emojis and skin-tones” in the future.
It’s great to see this feature making its way to such a popular messaging app, as I’ve always wished for it in apps like Slack or Telegram. The company also announced that users will be able to share much larger files, with the maximum file size increasing from 100MB to 2GB. It’s also increased the number of people that can be on a voice call at once from eight to 32.
