WhatsApp is the most widely used messaging application on the planet. However, despite its broad reach, the app will not be able to support all of our devices indefinitely. The company updates its help center on a regular basis to inform users of which devices it still supports.

On November 1st, 2021, the list of supported devices will be reduced once more. WhatsApp will no longer support handsets running iOS 9 and Android versions prior to 4.1 in November.

iOS 10 or newer, as well as KaiOS 2.5.1 or newer, will continue to support WhatsApp.

WhatsApp ends support for some older devices

On October 18th, 2011, Google released Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich, which was nearly ten years ago. It’s quite improbable that your phone is running anything older than Android 4.0.4, which was Ice Cream Sandwich’s final upgrade.

You can continue to use WhatsApp as long as your phone is updated to at least Android 4.1 Jelly Bean (published by Google in 2021). At least for the time being.

iOS 10 was released alongside the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus. The good news is that Apple’s gadgets are supported for far longer than those of many of its competitors.

The following list of old Phones that can be upgraded to iOS 10 to support WhatsApp from November 2021:

iPhone 5, iPhone 5C.

iPhone 6, 6s, 6plus will continue to support WhatsApp from November 1st 2021.

Apple has released iOS 15 support for iPhone 6s.
