The Google Play Beta Program is currently distributing a new update for WhatsApp, bringing the app’s version number up to 2.22.16.3.
What has been added in this update? Voice notes for status updates are being developed by WhatsApp for a future app version!
In a future upgrade of WhatsApp beta for Android, new status update enhancements will be added. Today, we can officially reveal that WhatsApp plans to expand the functionality of status updates by integrating voice notes, due to the new beta for Android 2.22.16.3. “Voice status” refers to a voice memo shared as a status update:
This screenshot shows a new icon at the bottom of the status tab that allows us to quickly add a voice note to our status update. The voice message will be end-to-end encrypted, much like other photographs and videos uploaded to your status, and will only be shared with the individuals you select in your privacy settings for your status.
We regrettably do not know when this feature will be made available to beta testers because it is still in development. When we have more information to share with you, there will be another article.
