The rumor: According to Ming-Chi Kuo, Apple is aiming to deploy low-orbit satellites to provide communication to regions it has never gone before with the iPhone 13. (76.6 percent accurate).

  • “We anticipate that the iPhone 13’s hardware specifications will allow for LEO (low Earth orbit) satellite communications. When Apple switches on the software, iPhone 13 users can call and transmit using satellite communications when they are not in 4G/5G coverage.” Kuo claims
  • In December 2019, Mark Gurman previously reported on Apple’s plans to allow iPhones to communicate with satellites.

Our take:This could be the iPhone’s defining feature this year, outperforming any Android device. The possibilities for this technology are endless, allowing individuals to converse in locations where they previously couldn’t. That so, I’ll be impressed if this functionality debuts on the iPhone 13 rather than next year or the year after. If it is released this year, it will be a game changer for Apple.
