We announced information about a brand-new feature that is in development in the article about the WhatsApp beta for Android 2.22.16.3 update: the capacity to upload audio notes to our status updates. Based on your privacy settings, you will be able to share brief audio notes with your contacts using this tool. Although this functionality is still being worked on, the WhatsApp beta for Android 2.22.21.5 update has allowed us to post anything new regarding the user interface:

This screenshot shows how similar the UI is to the text status composer; in fact, the portion where you can record voice notes for status updates has been changed. You can select a background color for the voice note when you want to post a voice status update, and it appears as a message bubble. Additionally, the voice note can be uploaded for up to 30 seconds and is played automatically each time you open a voice status update. It is also secured by end-to-end encryption.

Unfortunately, this feature is still in development and won’t be available until an app update. As always, when new information becomes available, we’ll keep you informed.
